Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could assist the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Questers and Strategists tables.
